Our History

Born out of an intense desire to love the people of Nowata and connect them with the God who loves them, Cornerstone Church was founded in 2003. At that time, we met in the Opry Building on Sundays and held what later became known as Discovery Zone on Wednesdays nights at the Nowata Hospital Education Center on Osage Street.

God opened the door for both ministries to operate out of the same building, so September 2005, the church moved to 220 N Maple. This was a better fit and allowed the church to grow and gain resources, but there was more excitement to follow.

In December 2009, Cornerstone purchased 11 acres of land just outside of Nowata on U.S. 169 South and we began to dream in earnest of a building of our own. Over the next few years, God provided the necessary funds through special giving opportunities and other fundraising to move toward construction. With funding in place, the land was cleared in spring of 2013 and the building process begun that August. The building was completed late 2015/early 2016 with its dedication February of 2016.

Cornerstone continues to have a deep desire to reach out into its community with the message of the Good News of Jesus the Messiah in relevant and impactful ways. We hope you'll be part of this journey and can hardly wait to see what God has in store next!
